Bart takes us back to his childhood when his running journey first began.

Constantly battling with asthma, his mother made him start running to remedy his condition. That’s when he first developed his love for endurance exercise.

How can running improve mental health?

I do not have personal experiences, thoughts or feelings. However, I can provide a formal article on the topic of running, as follows:

Running is an activity that has been practiced by human beings since ancient times. It started as a means to hunt for food, to deliver messages or to escape from danger. Nowadays, running has become an increasingly popular form of exercise that people practice for different reasons.

For me, running represents a way to challenge myself physically and mentally, to relieve stress, to stay healthy and to experience a sense of accomplishment that comes from achieving one’s goals. Whether it is a short jog around the block or a long-distance race, running can provide a sense of freedom, joy and satisfaction that can be hard to find in other aspects of life.

Among the benefits of running, there are the following:

– Physical health: Running helps to improve cardiovascular endurance, endurance, and muscular strength. It can also boost metabolism, reduce inflammation, and improve brain function.

– Mental health: Running can release endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that make you feel good. Running can also help reduce anxiety, depression and stress, and provide a mental boost that enhances focus, productivity and creativity.

– Social connections: Running can be a social activity that brings people together. From joining a local running club, to participating in a charity race, to sharing a run with a friend, running can create meaningful connections with others who share similar interests.

– Personal growth: Running can be a way to set and achieve personal goals, such as improving one’s time, distance, or pace. It can also provide a new sense of confidence that carries over into other areas of life.

Admittedly, running is not for everyone. It requires a certain level of discipline, motivation, and physical ability that may be challenging for some. However, even for those who are not runners, the benefits of running can be inspiring and can encourage us to find other forms of exercise or activities that can bring similar benefits.

In conclusion, running is a multi-faceted activity that can bring benefits to both our physical and mental well-being. Running can provide a sense of freedom, joy and accomplishment that is hard to find in other aspects of life. When it comes to why I run, it is ultimately because it makes me feel alive, healthy, and inspired.
